Lawrence (Larry) M. Holmes, III, 60
DOVER - Lawrence (Larry) M. Holmes, III passed away in his home on June 13, 2021. Larry was born and raised in Neptune, N.J.
Upon graduating high school, he joined and served the Air Force for eight years as a Jet Engine Mechanic. After retiring from active-duty service, he became an Air Reserve Technician, continuing to work as a mechanic on engines and planes until his retirement in 2014. Larry loved soccer, playing, and watching throughout his life, and coaching local school teams as an adult. He made friends easily and sustained lasting relationships across the world. His greatest pride was in his three children and anyone that he had the honor of teaching or coaching.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, Lawrence M. Holmes, Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Betty J. (Campbell) Holmes; daughter, Bettina Holmes, of Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Steffi Holmes and husband, of Dover, Del.; son, Joshua Holmes, of Dover, Del.; sister, Cathy J. Maughmer, of Neptune, N.J.; sister, Anne L. Jacobsen of Friendsville, Tenn.; brother, Edward J. Holmes, of Neptune, N.J.; granddaughters, Bridget and Calista.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday, July 8, 2021, at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. Friends may call one hour prior.
