Laura Marie Powell Satterfield, 82

NEW CASTLE - Laura Marie Powell Satterfield of New Castle departed this life Thursday, Dec. 27, 2007, in Regency Nursing Home, Wilmington, following a very long illness. She was 82.

Mrs. Satterfield, daughter of the late Friday Nathaniel Powell and Ordelia Shockley Powell, was born July 15, 1925, in Slaughter Neck.

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, John Satterfield of New Castle; a daughter, Althea Brown and her husband Billie of Jamaica, N.Y.; stepdaughter, Rosalind Bloodcloud of New Castle; grandchildren, Billeesha Brown, Yvonne Brown, Tonya Brown and Billie Brown Jr., all of Jamaica; one great-grandchild, Gynavia Davis of Jamaica; two sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Powell of Dover and Joan Powell of Lakewood, N.J.; three aunts, Sarah S. Shockley of Lincoln, Sarah J. Shockley of Wilmington and Audrey Shockley of Harrisburg, Pa.; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Welcome Full Gospel Holiness Church, Slaughter Neck, where friends may call two hours prior.

Interment will be in Old Hickory Cemetery, Slaughter Neck.

Arrangements by Young & McPherson Funeral Home, Milford.
