DOVER - Latashia Maria Young of Dover departed this life Friday, May 18, 2007, at Christiana Care Hospital, Newark, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was 35.

Latashia was born to Jessie Young on Sept. 6, 1971, in Milford.

She attended Milford Public School and Holy Cross, and graduated from Broadmeadow High School in Middletown. She furthered her education at Wesley College, Delaware Technical & Community College and Wilmington College, and received a master"s degree in social work from Delaware State University.

Latashia was employed as a family specialist for the ECAP Program and as a social worker for the State of Delaware.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Justice and Flossie Young.

She is survived by her daughter, Tiffany Nicole Young; her mother and father, Jessie and George Pinkney and George Reynolds, all of Dover; three aunts, Lolita (Mervin) Belfast and Mable Young of Milford, and Cordilia Young of New Castle; a great-aunt, Ida Wilkinson and great-uncle, Franklin Brisco, both of Philadelphia; and a host of cousins, other relatives, friends and extended family, including the Rev. Elmer and Peggy Bratten and the Rev. James and Norma Holt.

Funeral services will be Saturday, at the Liberty Church, 1150 State College Road, Dover, at 1 p.m. Family and friends may call for visitation from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Interment will be in Barratt"s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Calvary Christian Academy, 1143 E. Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901, in support of the "Tiffany Young Educational Fund."

Arrangements are being handled by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
