Harrington - Larry E. Carpenter passed away surrounded by his family on Tuesday Mar. 14, 2017 in his winter home in Newport Richey, Fla.
He loved the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing and working in his garden. He enjoyed going to auctions and turning junk into a dollar. He was a handy man that could build anything his mind could vision. He enjoyed sharing that skill by helping many others with their needs and dreams. Larry loved spending time with family and friends, telling his stories of life and adventures. He was a very friendly gentleman who touched many hearts.
Larry was a lifelong auto and body repair man, starting at the young age of 17 and working in this field until he retired.
He was born February 3, 1941, in Buffalo Springs, Pa. to the late Edward (Pappy) and Caroline (Nana) Kayser Carpenter. He was preceded in death by his brother, David Carpenter.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Shirley Carpenter; two sons, Edward Carpenter, of Harrington, Lynn Glass, of Dover; and one daughter, Louise Layton and her husband, Wallace Layton, of Harrington; one brother, Wilfred Carpenter, of Harrington; and two sisters, Janice Stricker and Bertha Houck, both of Robesonia, Pa.; seven grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, Apr. 1, 2017, at London Village Chapel, 568 Millchop Ln., Magnolia. Calling of family and friends at 1 p.m. with services at 2 p.m.
