Lake Forest coaches honored for saving student-athlete's life

FELTON — Lake Forest High head football coach Fred Johnson and assistant Dominique Hall were recently honored for saving a student-athlete’s life earlier this summer.

The incident occurred on June 11 with the Spartans conducting a non-contact drill.

The student-athlete collapsed after catching a pass and appeared to be unconscious and not breathing.

While another coach called 911, Johnson and Hall began performing CPR.
A Felton Community Fire Company ambulance crew and Kent County Paramedics then used an Automated External Defibrillator to restore the student’s breathing.

The student regained consciousness and was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation.

The two coaches received a Life Saving Award Certificate and medal from the Kent County Levy Court. They will be honored again at Lake Forest on Aug. 26.
