
DOVER - It is with great sadness that the family of Kevin T. Whetstone of Dover announces his passing after a long battle with leukemia, on Saturday May 27, 2017, at the age of 29 years.
Kevin was born March 1, 1988 in Glendale, AZ to Theresa (Drinhouser) Curley and the late Raymond Alan Whetstone. He attended Hodgson Vo-Tech High School and graduated from the Delaware School for the Deaf in 2008.
Kevin then went on to attend Rochester Institute of Technology where he graduated in 2015. Kevin had a passion for computers and the Philadelphia Flyers and recently became certified as an archery instructor. Kevin was a childhood cancer survivor and spent several summers at Kay's Kamp where he was a counselor for children going through the same fight he did. Kevin was a loving son, brother, uncle, nephew and a friend to many, and he will be greatly missed by those that knew and loved him.
In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joseph and Alicia Drinhouser of Philadelphia, Pa., and William and Sibyl Whetstone of Montgomery, Ala..
He is survived by his mother, Theresa Curley; and stepfather, William Curley of Dover; his sister, Kelly (Whetstone) Ward of Dover; step brothers, Justin and Cory Curley of Dover, and step sister Kristin (Curley) Collison of Dover.
A viewing will be held from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 5, 2017 at the Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 East Lebanon Road, Dover, DE 19901.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m at Holy Cross Catholic Church 631 S State St, Dover, DE 19901. Burial will be at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery 2465 Chesapeake City Rd, Bear, DE 19701.
