FRANKFORD - Katie Hudson Toomey, of Frankford, passed away on Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at the Genesis Elder Care Seaford Center surrounded by her loving family. She was 83.
She was born in Ocean City, Md., daughter of the late, Alfred and Sarah (Hadder) Hudson.
Katie graduated from Ocean City High School in 1942.
She was a receptionist for Mountaire Farms in Selbyville, retiring in 1989 after 40 years of service.
Katie was a member of Frankford United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 36 years and was secretary of the official board.
She was also a member of the Frankford Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary for several years.
Katie was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Chap" Toomey in 1993; sisters, Jennie Clark of Selbyville, Molly Russell of Ocean City, Sarah Vickers of Ocean Pines, Md., Frances Quillen of Berlin, Md., and Nellie Sawyer of Ocean City.
She is survived by four sisters, Evelyn Townsend of Frankford, Louise Farlow of Georgetown, Anna Mae Tyre of Selbyville, and Josephine Dennis of Ocean City; brother, James Hudson of Ocean City; several nieces and nephews; her caregiver and niece, Muriel Gillespie; and nephew, Alden Townsend.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday in Frankford United Methodist Church, Main Street, Frankford, where friends may call after noon.
Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Berlin.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Frankford United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 37, Frankford, DE. 19945.
