DOVER - Katie "Kitty" Cook of Dover passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011, at home, surrounded by her family. She was 82. Katie was born September 25, 1929 in Frankfurt, Germany, to the late Wilhelm and Johanna Mertz Oestreich. Mrs. Cook is survived by her husband of 58 years, Horace; two sons, William Cook and companion Roberta Hennessy of Ocean City, Md., and John Cook and wife Dottie of Camden; daughter, Donna Lippincott and husband Bart of Middletown; brother, Peter Oestreich and wife Renate of Germany; sister, Leni Appel of Germany; five grandchildren, Adam Cook, Jason Cook and wife Dawn, Jamie Cook Thompson and husband Chase, Jennifer Snyder and Eric Lippincott and wife Sarah; and four great-grandchildren, Wyatt Cook, Anna Kate Thompson, Landon Cook and Townsend Lippincott. A visitation will be 5 to 7p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover. Interment for Katie will be at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, in Bear. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901 or Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. State St., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent, and guest book signed at torbertfuneral.com.
