Julia M. Allaband, 90

WOODSIDE - Julia M. Allaband of Woodside passed away Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, in Capital Nursing Center, Dover. She was 90.

She was born April 6, 1917, in Upland, Pa., to the late LeRoy and Marion (Cummings) Oakes.

Mrs. Allaband worked 25 years for Playtex until retirement.

Mrs. Allaband was a wonderful, loving mother to her 10 children.

She had a special love for birds and all animals.

Mrs. Allaband had the gift to grow beautiful flowers and houseplants, especially African violets.

She will be missed by her family and friends.

Mrs. Allaband had a special love for everyone that came into her life.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph M. Allaband Sr., in 1989; a great-granddaughter, Amber Rose Hockensmith; a granddaughter, Patricia Faye Mahhew; and sons-in-law, Francis H. McKee and Joseph Bradley.

She is survived by four sons, Joseph M. and his wife Lorraine Allaband Jr. of Dover, Gerald Kenneth and his wife Debbie Allaband of Marydel, Bryan Daryl Allaband of Felton, and Lester Allen and his wife Ginny Allaband of Harrington; six daughters, Janice A. "Jan" and her husband William Bradley of Dover, Sylvia S. and her husband Robert J. LaRochelle of Monks Corner, S.C., Elaine H. Bradley of Salisbury, Md., Linda A. Allaband of Dover, Cynthia R. Allaband of Harrington, and Judith K. and her husband Harold H. "Hal" Lane of Woodside; 34 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Remembrance services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday in Trader Funeral Home, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior.

Burial will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery, Camden.

The family request that memorial contributions be given to VITAS Innovative Hospice Care, 100 Commerce Drive, Suite 302 Newark, DE 19713.
