DOVER - Judy C. Burnham-Mitchell of Dover died Saturday, May 5, 2007, in her home. She was 62.

Mrs. Burnham-Mitchell was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Grove City, Pa.

During her early life in Grove City she was active with the Eastern Star and the White Shrine.

Mrs. Burnham-Mitchell finished her working career in the Caesar Rodney School District, beginning at Allen Frear Elementary School and moving to Welch Elementary.

She was a member and state president of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority. She enjoyed participating in Old Dover Days and was instrumental in organizing the first maypole events. She was very artistic and loved to do framing, matting, arts and crafts.

Mrs. Burnham-Mitchell will be remembered as a gourmet cook, an avid reader, and her love for travel. Over the years, she was able to travel worldwide.

She is preceded in death by her father, Clinton Hoffman; her first husband, Robert F. Burnham Jr.; and her second husband, Ret. Lt. Col. James R. Mitchell Jr. on Jan. 17, 2004.

She is survived by her mother, Della Beryl Bollinger Hoffman of Grove City; a son, Robert F. Burnham III of Newark; a sister, Holly Hitzig of Wyoming; two nieces, Jennifer Alexander and her husband, Ross Sr. of Bear, and Ashley Hitzig of Wyoming; a great-nephew, Ross Alexander Jr., a great-niece, Lorelei Alexander, both of Bear; and an extended family of cousins and friends.

Services will be 8 p.m. today in Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming, where friends may call two hours earlier.

Additional services and burial will be in Grove City.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Alpha Delta Kappa Scholarship Fund/Delta Chapter, c/o Rebecca Browning, 1842 Parkers Chapel Road, Marydel, DE 19964.
