WILMINGTON - Judith Ann Crockett Wallace (Judi) formerly of Clayton, passed away at the Brandywine Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on May 10, 2017 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Judith was born in Wilmington on Mar. 1, 1944, to Clara and Robert John Crockett. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School. She began her career working at Nichols Department Store in Dover. Judi began working for the State of Delaware in 1981. She would spend the majority of her career as an accountant in the State Treasurers office. She often worked multiple jobs including The Dinner Bell, Sears, and Strawbridge's.
Judi was known as a hard worker and the type of person that would help anyone in need. Her house was often filled with family and friends that she took in when the need arose. She faced many challenges in her life, but was most proud of being a 20-year survivor of breast cancer.
Judi enjoyed crocheting, listening to music, dancing, spending time with her grandchildren, and going on adventures with her best friend, Sue Stanley.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas C. Wallace, Sr.; her son, Robert J. Wallace Sr.; and her brothers, Joseph Crockett and John Crockett.
She is survived by her sons, and their wives; Douglas C. (Marla) Wallace, Jr., of League City, Texas, David C. (Cindy) Wallace, of Wilmington, and Andrew J. (Wendy) Wallace, of Dover; her grandchildren; Brittany, Douglas, Zachary, Shamicka, Robert, Alecia, Alexandra, Rainey, Alyssa, Liam, and Emma; 11 great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
The family will receive visitors Wednesday May 17, 2017 from 7-9 PM at Matthews-Bryson Funeral Home, 123 W. Commerce St., Smyrna. A funeral service will be held on Thursday May 18, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, 22 N. Union St., Smyrna. Interment will be in St. Peter's Cemetery, Smyrna.
