SUDLERSVILLE, Md. - Joyce Cole O'Neal passed away November 23, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Joyce was born January 25, 1944, the daughter of the late Frank E. Cole and Bertha Jackson Cole.
She was a proud 1962 graduate of John Bassett Moore High School in Smyrna, Del. In 1967 she married Richard Franklin O'Neal and they made their home in Sudlersville. Joyce worked for many years as an oral surgeon's assistant. She enjoyed spending her retirement with her family, was an avid reader, and had a passion for genealogy.
In addition to her parents; she was proceeded in death by six brothers, Francis Cole, Frank E. Cole, Jr., Harvey Jackson Cole, Evans Cole, Hynson Cole, and Roger Cole; and sisters, Ortha Bickling and Julia Butler.
She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Richard Franklin O'Neal; daughters, Heather Marshall of Sudlersville and Megan O'Neal (Craig) of Virginia; son, Jonathan O'Neal (Teri) of Bel Air, Md.; four grandsons, TJ and Joshua of Sudlersville and Michael and Andrew of Bel Air; brother, Wayne Cole of Cabool, Mo.; and sister, Lois Stanton of Sudlersville.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 from 10-11 a.m. in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena, Md., where the service will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Smyrna.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Holden's Chapel, 1126 Dudleys Corner Road, Millington, MD 21651, or Compass Regional Hospice, 160 Coursevall Dr., Centreville, MD 21617.
