Joy E. (Yoder) Courtney, 69

MILFORD - Joy E. (Yoder) Courtney, of Milford, died Tuesday, March 11, 2008, at home. She was 69.

She was born in Milford, daughter of the late Lee and Lena (Miller) Yoder.

Joy was a medical secretary for Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover, for several years.

Joy attended Milford Church of Christ.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, singing and rocking babies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Courtney, in 2001; a brother, Ornan Yoder; and a great-grandson, Adam Larson Jr.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Larson of Germany, Alan Courtney of Georgia and Joanne Mitchell of Delmar; her brothers and sisters, Sam Yoder of Greenwood, Wilbur Yoder of Rhode Island, Barbara Ann Yoder of Greenwood, Oneida Brown of Milford, Iona Swartzentruber of Greenwood, Stanley Doyle Yoder of Branson, Mo., Nancy Peralta of Atlanta, Ga., Ima Jean Scott of Ireland, Karen Mitchell of Greenwood, Lenea England of Virginia and Becky Drummond of Greenwood; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her mother-in-law, Alta White of Milford.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 NW Front St., Milford, where friends may call after 2 p.m.

Burial will be private.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made in her name to a charity of choice.
