SELBYVILLE - Johnny Gray, of Selbyville, died Monday, Oct. 29, 2007, in Peninsula Regional Medical Center, Salisbury, Md. He was 78.
Johnny was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 10159, Salisbury.
He retired from the U.S. Post Office in Selbyville after 18 years of service.
Prior to this Johnny worked 29 years as a factory worker in Selbyville and Georgetown.
Johnny was educated within the Delaware school system.
He loved to travel and enjoyed B.B. King concerts and Gospel music.
Johnny was a member of Cross of Christ Church in Berlin, Md.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Sylvester Watson Gray; and a stepson, Calvin Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Watson Gray; children, Johnny Gray Jr. and wife Gloria of Pine Bluff, Ark., Cornell Gray and wife Sharon of Seaford, Marvin Keaton and wife Evangeline of Frankford, Timothy Keaton of Laurel, Serena Green and husband Thomas of Middletown, Marlina Belote and husband Ray of Hebron, Md., Hilla Ann Jackson and husband Garnet of Bridgeville; daughter-in-law, Teresa Smith of Bridgeport, Conn.; sisters-in-law, Lottie Harmon and Louise Douglas of Salisbury, Md.; brother-in-law, Jessie Watson of Fruitland, Md.; stepchildren, John Carter of North Carolina, Richard Carter of Frankford, and Virginia Roberts, Vincent Carter, and Christina Johnson, all of Salisbury; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Calvary Pentecostal Church, Bishopville, Md., where friends may call two hours prior.
The Pastor Larry Morris will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 100 W. 10th St., Suite 1002, Wilmington, DE 19801.
Interment will be 1 p.m. Monday in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
