John O. Voshell, 84

DOVER - John O. Voshell, of Dover, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was 84. He was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Wyoming, Del., son of the late Perlie and Florence (Seamon) Voshell. John had worked as a heavy equipment mechanic. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Florence K. Hilton; and two brothers, Ed Voshell and Willis Voshell. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Violet Voshell; two daughters, Roxanna Williams Ford of Clayton, and Bonnie L. Briggs of Dover; a son, John W. Voshell and his wife Dorothy of Dover; 11 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; four brothers, Clarence Voshell of Felton, Fred Voshell of Felton, David Voshell of San Diego, Calif., and Kenneth Voshell of Oxnard, Calif.; and a sister, Sarah States of Felton. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday in the Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden-Wyoming Ave., Wyoming. Services will be 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901.
