RIDGELY, Md. - John Morris Leader of Ridgely died Monday, Feb. 19, 2007, in his home. He was 65.
Mr. Leader was born Aug. 23, 1941, in Baltimore, son of the late Emma Elizabeth Grendier and Raymond Ellwood Leader Sr.
He moved to Ridgely in 2001 from Brooklyn, Md. He retired in the same year after 25 years as a maintenance mechanic for SCM Chemicals.
Mr. Leader served in the U.S. Navy for 12 years before working for SCM Chemicals. He was a member of American Legion Post 29.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Gladys (Koontz) Leader; four sons, James Haney of Florida, John Leader of Norfolk, Va., William Kneavel and David Kneavel, both of North Carolina; four daughters, Mary Leech of Ridgely, Cindy Sue Sebald of Baltimore, Beverly Lynn Ford of Littleton, N.H. and Ruby Kasubinski of North Carolina; two brothers, Jesse T. Leader of Baltimore and Raymond E. Leader Jr. of Oregon; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
