DOVER - John J. Rowley, Jr. of Dover passed away peacefully on March 13, 2016. He was 66 years old. Mr. Rowley was born in Bay Shore-Long Island, N.Y., son of the late John J. Rowley, Sr. and Elizabeth Holland. John served in the U.S. Army. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for 28 years at PPG. Mr. Rowley was a member of Capitol Baptist Church, Delmarva Sportsman Association, NRA Lifetime Member and Camden Moose Lodge. He was an avid hunter and gun collector. He enjoyed fishing and taking hunting trips. He loved telling stories and showing pictures about his hunting trips. He was not a baseball fan, but loved watching his grandsons play baseball. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Frances "Lynn" Rowley; stepfather, James Holland; brother, Paul Rowley; and sister, Gail Holland. He is survived by a son, John T. Rowley and wife Kim of Dover; sister, Sharon Schmittinger and husband Steve of Dover; brother, Mark Rowley and wife Betty of Buford, Ga.; his grandsons, John T. Rowley, II (Johnny) and Jared Rowley of Dover; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, other family members; and his good friend and hunting partner, Felippo Toscano. Services will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, March 17, 2016 at the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover, where friends may call from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Private Burial will follow in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to the Capitol Baptist Church, 401 Kesselring Ave., Dover, DE 19904.
