CHESWOLD - John J. Boyd Jr. of Cheswold died Monday, Nov. 20, 2006, in his home. He was 66.
Mr. Boyd was born Jan. 25, 1940, in Mount Holly, N.J., son of the late John Boyd Sr. and Annie Mae Feggins.
He was employed by Delaware State University for over 22 years. He later retired and became a self-employed painter. Even after retirement, he worked hard as a painter and also remodeled properties.
Mr. Boyd"s spare time was devoted to spending time with his daughter and granddaughter. He enjoyed laughing and conversing with his friend, Sal, and the whole Mari Monti family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl Boyd and Percy Boyd.
He is survived by a daughter, Cherita D. Adkins of Dover; a granddaughter, Kamiah A.J. Adkins of Dover; his stepmother, Miguelina Boyd of Puerto Rico; four sisters, Joann Boyd of Puerto Rico, Elizabeth Alexander of Virginia, Joan Boyd of Georgia and Peggy Cannon of Delaware; four brothers, Samuel Boyd of California, Donald Boyd of Pennsylvania and Ernest Harris and Robert Harris, both of Delaware; a close friend, Sal Maddalena; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. today in Union Missionary Baptist Church, 883 Lincoln St., Dover.
Burial will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
