John Cecil Hollinger Jr., 76

ARCHDALE, N.C. - John Cecil Hollinger Jr. of Archdale died Monday, Oct. 23, 2006, in High Point Regional Health System. He was 76.

He was born Dec. 11, 1929, in Dover, Del., son of the late John Cecil and Emily (Hill) Hollinger.

He was a graduate of Caesar Rodney High School in Wyoming, Del.

He was a corporal in the Army National Guard and served in the Korean War, where he attained the rank of sergeant first class.

During his career, he was associated with Singer Fidelity Inc., Allied Chemical Co. for 12 years and Vanguard Supreme Inc. for 19 years. He was co-founder and currently vice-president of Drum Filter Media Inc.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a niece, Pamela Denise Turner.

He is survived by his wife, JoAnne (Turner) Hollinger, whom he married Jan. 25, 1958; a son and a daughter-in-law, J.C. III and Pattie Hollinger of Archdale; a daughter, Lea Hollinger of Greensboro; a sister, Emma H. Farley of Milford, Del.; four nephews, Scott Turner of Sanford; Dennie Turner of Morganton; Jimmy Sisk of Greensboro and Larry Farley and his wife, Nancy, of Salisbury, Md.; a great-nephew, Jason Farley of Bridgeville, Md.; a great-great-niece, Erin Farley of Bridgeville; a special friend, Brian Williams of Greensboro; a cousin, Virginia Padgen of Milford; and a second cousin, Viola Thillas of Middletown, Del.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in Sechrest Funeral Service, Archdale.

Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in First Baptist Church of Archdale. The Revs. Robert W. Ferguson, J.C. Alley and Paul Gunter will officiate.

Burial will be in Floral Garden Memorial Park.

The family suggests memorials contributions to the American Cancer Society, 4-A Oak Branch Dr., Greensboro, NC 27407; or First Baptist Church Building Fund, 10607 N. Main St., Archdale, NC 27263.
