John Cecil 'JC' Hammond, 90 DOVER - John Cecil "JC" Hammond, of Dover, died Friday March 26, 2010 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 90. Mr. Hammond was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Dover, to the late Elmer Hammond and Pearl Ware Hammond. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Hammond owned and operated his own refrigeration repair shop Hammond Refrigeration in Dover for over 50 years. He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Dover, the Camden/Wyoming Moose Lodge, Elks Lodge #1903 in Dover, Del Vets, and the VFW of Dover. Mr. Hammond loved to sing, dance, playing the organ, sailing. He enjoyed his trips to Spence's Bazaar with his brother-in-law Paul and his trips to Ocean City, Md. Mr. Hammond was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ida Hammond 1984; his longtime companion, Catherine Fragale 2008; and his brother, Elmer Hammond. He is survived by his sister, Mary Helen Edwards and her husband Paul of Dover; several nieces and nephews and the children and grandchildren of Catherine Fragale; a great grandchild and sister-in-law, Kitty Hammond. Funeral services will be noon, Tuesday, March 30, at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 61 S. Bradford Street, Dover. Friends may call one hour prior. Interment will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Dover. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Delaware Hospice Center, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901; or the American Parkinson Disease, 135 Parkinson Avenue, Parkinson Plaza, Staten Island, NY 10305.
