John A. Forbes, 78 FELTON - John A. Forbes Sr., of Felton, passed away Friday July 18, 2008, in KGH Bay Health Milford. He was 78. He was born on Aug. 13, 1929, in Dover, to the late Thurber and Delsie Jones Forbes. Mr. Forbes worked at International Latex at the Playtex Park in Dover for 18 years as a lab technician, during which time he served in the US Army in Germany. He later worked at Brown Thawley and Wilson Beverage in Milford as a mechanic for many years. In his younger years, he enjoyed roller skating and collected many trophies for bowling. He continued spending his semi retirement years with many friends at the "Milford shop" as well as watching game shows. Mr. Forbes loved to tease, but never at the expense of others. He always enjoyed a good joke and a fun gag gift. He collected wind up toys, old books, coins, bottles, and any other treasure that caught his eye. He liked to spend his free time at auctions, but most of all he loved planting and tending to his large garden. Mr. Forbes was preceded in death by his wife, Loretta in March 2008; his sisters, Ruth Porter and Peggy Jester and his step-son, Roy Hill. He is survived by son, John A. Forbes Jr. and Melody Bender of Dover; daughters, Arlene and Bob Gensel of Coral Springs, Fla., Sharon and Kevin Ulrich of Camden, Laurie Forbes of Magnolia; step-daughters, Bonnie and Clarence Woodall of Camden, and Connie and Alvin Pickens of Camden; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a brother, Jerry and Evelyn Forbes of Magnolia; sisters, Shirley Johnson of Dover, Nancy and Bobby Macklin of Airville, Pa. and numerous other relatives and many long time friends. Remembrance Services will be 1 p.m. Friday in Trader Funeral Home in Dover, where friend may call two hours prior. Burial will be at the Sharon Hill Memorial Park, Dover. The family request that memorial contributions be given to the charity of your choice. Letters of condolences may be sent to www.delmarvaobits.com or www.traderfh.com
