Joe Robert Chambers Sr., 68

SEAFORD - Joe Robert Chambers Sr., of Seaford, died Monday, Jan. 21, 2008, at his residence. He was 68.

Born in Accomack, Va., he was the son of the late Virginia Mae Charnock and Joseph Robert Chambers.

Mr. Chambers was a maintenance mechanic for General Mills in Federalsburg, Md., and a member of Teamsters Local 355, Salisbury, Md.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Robert Alton Chambers; a brother, Johnny Chambers; and two sisters, Charlotte Eder and Betty Brown.

He is survived by his wife, Rita (Townsend) Chambers; three sons, Joe R. Chambers Jr. of Seaford, and Leroy and Jack Chambers, both of Laurel; a daughter, Ruth Ellen Passley of Seaford; three brothers, Jack, Milton and Bill Chambers of Laurel; a sister, Jenny May Farrelly of Laurel; 19 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Watson-Yates Funeral Home, Front and King streets, Seaford, where friends may call one hour prior.

Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 20167 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
