Joe Nathan "Jody" Mckinnie, 72

MILTON - Joe Nathan "Jody" Mckinnie of Milton died Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, in Beebe Medical Center, Lewes. He was 72.

Mr. Mckinnie was born Oct. 4, 1934, in Quitman, Ga., son of the late Frank and Lula McKinnie.

He was the fifth child of 11.

Mr. Mckinnie attended public schools in Quitman.

He married Eula Morrison on Feb. 18, 1956, and they had 10 children.

Mr. Mckinnie moved his family to Delaware in 1959 and worked at Draper Canning Co. for 17 years and at Paramount/Cargill for 10 years until he became unable to work. He was a dedicated worker, always striving for excellence in all that he did. He was a proud provider for his family and ensured their needs and wants were met.

He is survived by his wife, Eula Mckinnie; five children, Joe Mckinnie Jr. of Brawley, Calif., Patricia Lewis of Milton, Michelle George of Elk Grove, Calif., Eddie Mckinnie of Sacramento, Calif. and Roxanne Mckinnie of Milton; three brothers, Arthur Lee Mckinnie and Charles Mckinnie, both of Quitman and Sylvester Mckinnie of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; five sisters, Alice Roundtree, Viola Griffin and Mary Griffin, all of Quitman, Arilla Frazier of West Palm Beach, Fla. and Sarah Mosley of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sons-in-law, Vincent Lewis of Milton and Steve George of Elk Grove; a daughter-in-law, Donae Mckinnie of Sacramento; 12 grandchildren, Tianna Mckinnie-Holmes, Ishiya Mckinnie, Christen Lewis, Faith Mckinnie, Vincent Lewis Jr., James Mckinnie, Murdock Mckinnie, Jamal Mckinnie, Phillip Lewis, Shanell Mckinnie, Chancelor McKinnie and Jody McKinnie; four great-grandchildren, Nyree Holmes, Jasymine Lewis, Ericson Willey and Malaki Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Ann Burgess and Christine Stuckey; and a brother-in-law, Robert Burgess; a host of nieces, nephews and friends; and a special family friend, Mary Williams of Milton.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Mount Zion Holy Church, 325 Front St., Milton, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in Milford Community Cemetery.

Arrangments by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Milford.
