BRIDGEVILLE - Joe Lee Carter of Bridgeville passed away Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, at Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford. He was 65.
He was born in Winterville, Miss., son of the late Buddy Eashman and Odessia (Johnson) Carter.
Mr. Carter retired in 2004, after 25 years of service as a custodian for Sussex County.
He was a member and trustee of St. Matthew"s First Baptist Church in Laurel.
Mr. Carter is survived by his wife of five years, Verna Carter; his brothers, Ronnie Johnson of Lincoln, Allen Johnson of Seaford, and Larry Johnson of Texas; his sisters, Shiley Mason and Dorsitine Johnson, both of Mississippi; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday in St. Matthew"s First Baptist Church, Wolfe Street, Laurel.
A viewing will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday, and from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church. The Rev. Nathan McCoy will officiate.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
