DOVER - Joann C. Baker passed away on April 9, 2013 after a long struggle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was born on March 10, 1960, the daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Calvert. Joann worked for the state of Delaware at DelDOT and DTI as a computer programmer for many years. She loved spending time with family and friends, loved going to the beach, shopping, and decorating her home. Joann is survived by a daughter, Renee L. Baker of Harrington; a brother, John Calvert and his wife Shirley of Harrington; and sisters, Barbara Clendaniel of Felton, Linda Calvert of Harrington, and Amy Welsh and her husband Michael of Felton; she is also survived by several nieces and nephews, David Calvert, Aaron Clendaniel, Lisa Clendaniel, Christina Welsh, and Cameron Calvert. Joann's family would like to thank all her caregivers over the last few years. She would always say how fortunate she was to be surrounded by people who really cared. A special thank you to Robin Carey with whom Joann lived during her final years, Robin was truly a God send when Joanne and her family needed one the most. The family would also like to thank the Delaware Hospice for their care. Joann had a strong will and much determination. It's been said many times she certainly had the Calvert grit. She was a faithful and spiritual person and truly remarkable. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St., Harrington, DE 19952. Friends may call Friday, April 12, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Torbert Funeral Chapel, 1145 E. Lebanon Rd., Dover, DE 19901. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Hwy., Dover, DE 19901. Letters of condolence may be sent and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com.
