Joan Arlene Dau, formerly Joan Arlene Rogers, passed in Harrington, Delaware, while staying with her youngest daughter on March 10th.
Joan is survived by her children Fred, Dennis, Terri, and Tammi, her siblings Mimi, Bob, and Bill, 15 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and 3 greatgreat- grandchildren.
Joan was born on August 23, 1935 in Long Island, New York, where she lived and raised a family until moving to Harrington, DE in 1997. After retiring to Harrington, Joan began working for the foster grandparents program in the Lake Forest School District. Following her time helping in the schools, Joan started a knitting business called Love Inspired and could be found in warmer weather at the Milford Riverwalk Farmer’s Market, selling blankets and baby items. Joan also belonged to the Harrington Baptist Church and was a lifetime Democrat.
Joan will be remembered for her outspoken nature, her protectiveness of her family, and her deep love of Syfy horror movies, NASCAR, romance novels, and the Dodgers.
A celebration of her life is scheduled on Monday, March 17th at Calvary Baptist Church in Georgetown, Delaware. The family will hold a reception at 10:00 am with coffee and refreshments, followed by service at 11:00 am. Pastor Jeremy Barbrow will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Joan’s life.
In lieu of flowers, Joan would want donations sent to the Harrington Public Library at 101 Little Mastens Corner Road in Harrington, DE.
