OCEAN VIEW - Joan A. Peake, of Ocean View, formerly of Fort Washington, Md., passed away at her home on Tuesday, April 29, 2008. She was 67.
She was born in Washington, D.C., daughter of the late Malcom Stuart Beaton and Anna Mae (Shockency) Beaton.
Joan was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7234 at Quillen's Point in Ocean View. She was also a member of the Elks Club and Moose Lodge.
Joan enjoyed people and loved socializing with her friends.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth S. Beaton; and sister, Judith A. Ruby.
She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Frederick Lee Peake; son, Frederick "Pete" Lee Peake Jr.; daughter, Kelly Ann Chick; granddaughter, Sarah Chick; and a grandson, Andrew D. Chick.
A visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Melson Funeral Services, West Avenue, Ocean View.
The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Lee Funeral Home, Branch Avenue and Coventry Way, Clinton, Md., where friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday.
Burial will be in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery, Brandywine, Md.
