Jay 'Sonny' Watson Jr., 64

MILFORD - Jay "Sonny" Watson Jr., of Milford, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, in Christiana Medical Center, Wilmington. He was 64.

Sonny was born in Milford, son of the late Jay E. Sr. and Estella Mae (Warren) Watson.

He was a design engineer and supervisor of the Machine Maintenance Department at L.D. Caulk, Milford.

Sonny was a member of the Cedar Neck Church in Milford, the National Rifle Association and the Delaware Farm Bureau; a 30-year member of Elks Lodge 2401; and a life member of Greenbrier Hunting Club and the ATA Association.

His hobbies included hunting, gardening (he was known for his lima beans) and fishing, especially surf fishing.

Sonny was a die-hard Redskins and NASCAR fan, especially Tony Stewart.

He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his two granddaughters, who were the apples of his eye.

Sonny is survived by his wife of 44 years, Nancy Lee "Carter" Watson; one daughter, Lori Gordy and her husband Timothy of Milford; two grandchildren, Taylor and Kristen Gordy; one sister, Janet Callaway and her husband Wayne of Milton and their son, Joey Callaway and his wife Erin and their son, Ben; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Gregory and Sharleen Bunting and their children, Jaime and Jesse; brother-in-law and his wife, Jay and Ann Carter and their children, Devin, David and Shawn; and many extended family members.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday in Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford, where friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

Interment will be in Milford Community Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in his memory to Cedar Neck Church, Cedar Neck Road, Milford, DE 19963; or Greenbriar Hunting Club, Cedar Neck Road, Milford, DE 19963.
