James Wesley 'Jim' Mitchell, 70
GREENWOOD - James Wesley "Jim" Mitchell, of Greenwood, died Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at home. He was 70.
Jim was born in Milford, son of the late Lester James and Frances (Roberts) Mitchell Millman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.
Jim worked for 28 years at the Dover Air Force Base in the crew transport department, retiring in 1988.
He also had a small engine repair business and worked part-time as a school bus driver for 10 years, working for both Herholdt Bus Service in Milford and Copenhaver Bus Service in Houston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Virginia (Bacon) Mitchell, in 1994; and a sister, Dorothy Todd, in 1983.
He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Alvin R. and Mary Catherine (Messick) Mitchell of Milford; a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth E. and Earl Rambo of Milford; a stepbrother, Samuel Millman of Greenwood; a stepsister, Pat Russum of Magnolia; a goddaughter, Dyrell Ellwanger of Harrington; four stepchildren; three step-grandchildren; three nephews, David and Eric Rambo and Mike Reynolds; two nieces, Dawn D. Gemmil and Donna Orndoff; his ex-wife, Beth; and close friends, Donald "Mitchie" Mitchell of Lincoln and Barbara Bailey of Crisfield, Md.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in the Lofland Funeral Home, 102 Lakeview Ave., Milford, where friends may call after noon.
Burial will be in St. Johnstown Cemetery, Greenwood.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the American Heart Association, 20771 Professional Park Blvd., Unit 1, Georgetown, DE 19947.
