James Thomas Bibbins, 81

SMYRNA - James Thomas Bibbins departed this life Friday, Nov. 16, 2007, in the Delaware Hospital for the Chronically Ill, Smyrna, following a brief illness. He was 81.

Son of the late Betty Downing Bibbins and Calvin Bibbins, and husband of the late Minnie Bibbins, Mr. Bibbins was born Jan. 5, 1926.

He was known to many as he traveled from Delaware to Virginia.

Mr. Bibbins was a faithful worker to Perdue and the bean factory in Georgetown.

He loved to go to Virginia and go fishing with his favorite nephews, Albert, Charles and Gilbert.

Mr. Bibbins was preceded in death by two brothers, Sanders Downing and Eward Bibbins; two sisters, Sarah Lee Downing and Ethel Mae Warren; and a special and devoted niece, Ethel V. Bibbins.

He leaves to cherish his fondest memories, five daughters, Barbara B. White and her husband Morris of Accomac, Va., Shirley V. Bibbins of Onancock, Va., Elaine B. Mears and her husband Barry of Bayside, Va., Joyce E. Bibbins and her husband Michael of Accomac and Vanessa Grey and her husband Maurice of Millsboro; five sons, James Lee Bibbins of Tasley, Va., Calvin Bibbins of Temperanceville, Va., James Otis Bibbins and his wife Patricia of Virginia Beach, Va., and Tyrone Hopkins of Georgetown; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Annie Spence of Frankford and Agnes Blake and her husband Frank of Wilmington; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends; and five children he helped to raise, Onita Smith, Melody Edme, Evette Washington, Dino Smith and Darnell Toxey.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Millsboro, where friends may call two hours prior.

Burial will be private.
