FELTON - James Robert Jackson, "Pop-Pop" of Felton, Delaware passed away on Saturday, January 10, 2015, at home, surrounded by his loving family. James was born on September 12, 1934, in Damacus, Virginia. He was 80 years old. James was the son of the late Bert Jackson and Willie Roman. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Paula Voshell; and sister, Joann Jackson. In 1954, James enlisted in the United States Air Force at the age of 20. He had an accomplished career as an Aircraft Mechanic and Flight Engineer Technician, and later worked as a Structural Technician. James served in Vietnam, and was awarded numerous medals including the Air Medal, and Vietnam Service Medal. In 1975, he retired from the Air Force, after which he was employed in the maintenance department at Scott Paper Company. After his retirement from Scott Paper, he worked for the Caesar Rodney School District, as a bus driver, and also worked part time with the Delaware State News. James had many hobbies and interests. He coached little league for several years, enjoyed fishing, sports, and watching NASCAR races. He also was a member of the Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge; and VFW Post No. 3238, in Camden. James enjoyed a quiet and peaceful life, and cherished spending time with his family. James leaves behind Sue, his loving wife of 23 years; son, Steven Jackson and his wife Leanne; daughter, Anna Touchard and her husband Tony; step son, Robert Sandy; grandchildren, Stephen and Jennifer Jackson, Brittany and Jordan Touchard, Kali and Andrew Voshell, and Bobby Legar. He also leaves behind his four-legged buddy, Paco. A Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2015, at 12:00 noon, at Pippin Funeral Home, 119 W. Camden Wyoming Avenue, Wyoming, Delaware 19934. Friends may call two hours prior. Burial with full Military Honors, will take place at 2:00 pm at Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, contributions in James' honor can be made to Delaware Hospice, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963; or the Kent County SPCA, 32 Shelter Circle, Camden, Delaware 19934.
