James Ernest 'Jimmy' Custis, 59

LAUREL - James Ernest "Jimmy" Custis, of Laurel, departed this life on Monday, Oct. 6, 2008, after a collision with a motor vehicle, while riding his bicycle home from work. He was 59. James was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Gardenia Blake and his brother Albert Lee Custis. He was born Sept. 15, 1949, in the town of Nassawadox, Northampton County, Va. He attended grade school in Virginia. He later moved with his family and attended middle school and high school in Laurel. James loved his family and especially admired his parents, Frank and Gardenia Blake. His children were always close in his heart. His sisters and brothers were dear to him, as were his grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. James leaves to cherish his memory two daughters, Theresa Walker and husband Santo, and Dina Sauray and husband Leslie; three grandchildren, Da-Sha Jones, Ta-Sean Floyd, and Alicia Sauray; his father, Frank Blake and wife Agnes; a dearly loved companion, Audrey Winder; two sisters, Elizabeth Williams of Milford, and Geraldine Collins of Selbyville, and husband Albonte; three brothers, Clifton Boggs of Philadelphia, Mike Custis of Baltimore, and Freddie Custis of Georgetown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Jimmy was dearly loved by all of us. We will miss him greatly. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Seaford, where friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Friday and from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Middleford Cemetery, Seaford.
