WORTON, Md. - James Edward Elgin Jr. of Worton died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, in North Carolina. He was 66.

Mr. Elgin was born March 19, 1940, in Washington, D.C., son of the late James Edward Sr. and Frances Gordon Elgin.

He graduated from Mount Airy High School.

Mr. Elgin and his father owned a dairy farm in Taylorsville before moving to Worton in 1965. He owned and operated Lakeland Farms, a grain farm and commercial goose hunting business, until his retirement in 1999. In 2000, he started Lakeland Farm Trucking, a business he operated until present.

He was devoted to the 18-acre pond that he and his father developed and managed for 40 years.

Mr. Elgin enjoyed hunting, camping and traveling with his family.

He attended Trinity Lutheran Church, Chestertown.

Mr. Elgin was very devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, whom he married April 6, 1963, Patty (Welsh) Elgin; a son and a daughter-in-law, James Edward III and Rosie Elgin of Chestertown; a daughter and a son-in-law, Stefanie (Elgin) and David Blyman of Worton; and five grandchildren, Sarah Ann Elgin, James Edward 'Buddy' Elgin IV, Samuel David Blyman, Lindsey Jane Elgin and Jacob Edward Blyman.

Services will be 1 p.m. Monday in Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, where friends may call one hour earlier.

Friends may also call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

Burial will follow services Monday in Chester Cemetery.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, 101 Greenwood Ave., Chestertown, MD 21620.
