FELTON - Jacob Randy Poore of Felton died Monday, June 11, 2007, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 60.

Mr. Poore was born in Milford, son of the late Harvey and Hazel Poore

He owned and operated a produce stand for over 15 years in the Harrington community. Before that, he owned and trained a large stable of racehorses.

At the produce stand, Mr. Poore looked forward to spring, when the flowers would bloom and his plants would begin to grow. He had quite the green thumb and could grow anything out of nothing.

In his spare time, Mr. Poore enjoyed playing cards and shooting pool. He was an excellent pool shooter, and his favorite card game was Texas Hold "Em. A skilled poker player, he played alongside many of the professionals who are on TV today.

He cared greatly for his two dogs, Clifford and Little Mama. Clifford never left his side while he recuperated from a heart transplant four years ago.

Mr. Poore was a member of the Easton (Md.) Moose Lodge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Clayton Poore and Rueben Butler Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane L. Poore of Felton; a son, George E. Poore of Felton; a daughter, Cristal L. Poore of Felton; a sister, Joyce Vincent of Greenwood; and a couple who were like parents to him while he was growing up, Atwood and Mary Frances Tucker. Mr. Poore"s biological father passed away when he was five years old, so Mr. Tucker was like a father that Randy never had.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington, where friends may call for visitation from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in the Camden Odd Fellows Cemetery.
