MILTON - Jackie C. Betts, age 82, of Milton, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Dec. 25, 2010, in her home. She passed on Christmas Day, with snowflakes falling, and surrounded by her loving family; three things which meant so much to her. Jackie was born in Elkins, W.Va., daughter of the late Herbert W. Sr., and Hilda (Poe) Jones. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brother, Herbert W. Jones Jr., and Wilson B. "Bill" Jones Sr. She was a homemaker and very involved with her family, whom she loved so much. Jackie's priorities were God and her family. A loving and doting mother and grandmother, she attended any and every event her children and grandchildren were involved in. Jackie never met a stranger and greeted everyone she met with a big hug. Her favorite saying was, "All is well." Jackie was also well-known for her homemade Chili. Jackie attended Crossroad Community Church and was the coordinator for the Prayer Chain. She loved the Lord and enjoyed spreading the message of his gift to us. She was involved with prison ministries and visited many at area nursing homes. In addition to the church, she was a member of Mary Rebekah Lodge #15 and Milton Senior Citizens. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Harold C. Betts; five children and their spouses, Lou Ann and Blair Douglas, of Haslett, Mich., John and Alice Betts, Rick and Gail Betts, all of Georgetown, Terri and Rich Carey and Wesley and Ella Betts, all of Milton; 18 grandchildren, Katrina Douglas Smith and husband Jordan, Mike Douglas and wife Kimberly, Chris Douglas, Daniel Betts, Anna Betts Hamlett and husband Tim, David, Sarah, Christie and Rachael Betts, Allen, Andrew, and Aaron Betts, Richard, Hunter and Austin Carey, Joshua, Brittney and Jordan Betts; and a great-grandson, Gavin Michael Douglas. A funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 31, 2010, at 1 p.m. in Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown, where friends may call Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday after 11 a.m. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Milton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the church's building fund. Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
