J. Thomas Walsh, 56

Thomas Walsh of Betterton died Monday, May 7, 2007, as a result of an automobile accident, in University of Maryland, Shock Trauma, Baltimore. He was 56.

Mr. Walsh was born March 13, 1951, in Richmond, Va., son of Jeanne S. (Cooper) Walsh and the late James A. Walsh.

He began his career in 1984 with Southern States in Leesburg, Va., moving in 1988 to become manager of the Kent & Queen Anne's Petroleum Division in Sudlersville.

He was a member of the Betterton American Legion and the Betterton Volunteer Fire Co.

Mr. Walsh loved his job, riding his motorcycle and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Laura (Riley) Walsh; his son, Senior Airman Justin Walsh and his wife Chelsea of RAF Lakenheath, England; his mother, Jeanne Walsh of Bracey, Va.; and a dear friend, Robin Dulin of Kennedyville.

Friends may call Sunday evening, from 6 to 9, in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., Galena. Graveside services will be Monday at 1 p.m. in Dale Memorial Park, Chesterfield, Va.

The family suggests memorial contributions to the Betterton American Legion Little League, in care of the funeral home.
