J. Harvey Duff Sr., 80

CRUMPTON, Md. - J. Harvey Duff Sr. of Crumpton, formerly of Earleville, died Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, in the Elsmere (Del.) Veterans Hospital. He was 80.

Mr. Duff was born Jan. 22, 1926, son of the late Samuel and Mary (Wythe) Duff.

He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War and received a Bronze Star, a Purple Heart and a Combat Infantry Badge.

A lifetime resident of Cecil County, Mr. Duff was a licensed electrician since the early 1960s, owning and operating Harvey"s Electric Service. He also was the caretaker of Oriole Farm, Earleville, since 1980, retiring in 2004.

He was a lifetime member of the Hacks Point Fire Co. and the Chesapeake City Veterans of Foreign Wars and was a chaplain for the Disabled American Veterans. He was an active member of Chestertown Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife of 23 years, Joan (Hayes) Duff; his second wife of 12 years, Lillie (Whitman) Duff; and a grandson, Joshua Duff.

He is survived by a son, Harvey Duff Jr. of Hacks Point; a daughter, Doretta Davidson of Crumpton; a brother, Sam Duff of Earleville; a sister, Ruth Younger of Townsend, Del.; and three grandchildren, Jordan, Jill and Jonathan Davidson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in the Galena Funeral Home of Stephen L. Schaech, 118 W. Cross St., where friends may call one hour earlier.

Burial will be in St. Paul"s Cemetery, Earleville.
