GEORGETOWN - Irvin W. Smith passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016. Irvin was born in Seaford, son of the late Cletus A. and Margaret (Workman) Smith. He was a control room operator with E.I. Dupont Seaford Nylon Plant for 40 years. During his career with Dupont he was also called upon to serve in the Naval Air Forces. Irvin was an active member of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Georgetown. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Mary (Johnson) Smith; his second wife, Doris (McGinnis) Sherman Smith; and a son, Irvin Smith, Jr. He is survived by a step-son, Steve Sherman and wife, Lynda; and a niece, Kelly Yoder and husband, John. A memorial service will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 22300 Lewes-Georgetown Highway, Georgetown, DE 19947. Burial was held privately at Union Cemetery in Georgetown. Arrangements in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
