Inez Rivera, 80

SMYRNA - Inez Rivera, of Smyrna, formerly of Bronx, N.Y., passed away Saturday, May 17, 2008, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 80.

Inez was born May 23, 1927, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Jose and Juana (Suarez) Planas.

She worked as seamstress and later as a health aide for the Dominican sisters in New York for 20 years retiring in the late 1980s.

Inez had a love for life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Rivera, in 1963.

She is survived by her son, Jose L. Rivera and his wife Mary of Dover; a daughter, Milagros Maisonet of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Angeline Planas of Puerto Rico.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Holy Cross Catholic Church, South State Street, Dover.

Burial will follow at a later date in St. Raymond Cemetery, Bronx, N.Y.
