Ida Virginia McGinnes, 87
DOVER - Ida Virginia McGinnes, of Dover, died Thursday, May 1, 2008, in Mallard Bay Health Care Nursing Center, Cambridge, Md. She was 87.
She lived in Dover all her life.
She was born Aug. 14, 1920, to the late J. Edward and Laura R. (Bassford) Weaver.
Ida was the last of 15 children in her family.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed playing cards and playing the Delaware lottery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry D. McGinnes, in May 2007; a daughter, Florence Galloway, in 2000; and a stepdaughter, Harriet Rench, in March 2008.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry Allen McGinnes of Cambridge, Richard Fierstein of Huntingtown, Md., and Albert Fierstein of Frederick, Md.; stepson, Harry D. McGinnes of Crestview, Fla.; stepdaughters, Florence Eckeard of Kenton, Jane Fierstein of Huntingtown and Sandra Burr of Keysville, Va.; 18 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
A service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m. Monday in the Trader Funeral Home, 12 Lotus St., Dover, where friends may call one hour prior.
The Rev. Milton Kemp will officiate.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to Alzheimer's Association, Delaware Chapter, 2306 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19805.
