SEAFORD -- Ida M. Jenkins, 84, daughter of the late Jordan Blunt and Myrtle Blackwell, was born Feb. 14, 1924, in North Carolina. She departed this life on Oct. 27, 2008, at University of Maryland Medical Center, Baltimore. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jenkins was preceded in death by her husband, Charles E. Jenkins Sr.; and two sons, Charles E. Jenkins Jr. and Robert Jenkins. Mrs. Jenkins received her early education at Fred Douglass School, Seaford. She accepted Christ as her personal Savior at an early age. On Jan. 7, 1941, she was joined in holy matrimony to the late Charles E. Jenkins Sr. and together they had six children. She was an active member at East Clarence Street Church of God, where she was a faithful member before becoming ill. She worked many years at Delanys, Bridgeville, as a food processor. Mrs. Jenkins enjoyed caring for everybody's children and early Saturday morning yard sales. Mother Jenkins leaves to cherish her memories a son, Linwood (Francine) Jenkins of Seaford; three daughters, Myrtle Jenkins of Seaford, Frankie (Tyrone) Griffin of Bridgeville and Beatrice (Stanley) Jones of Greenwood; two daughters-in-law, Regina Jenkins of Hurlock, Md., and Liz Joyner Jenkins of Salisbury, Md.; a sister, Annie Hunter of Laurel; a brother, Rodney Hunter of North Carolina; 16 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a devoted friend, Mother Catherine Cannon; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today at Clarence Street Church of God, Seaford, where friends may call from 9 a.m. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. in the Delaware Veteran's Cemetery, Georgetown.
