LEWES - Howard Frank "Slug" Kirsch Jr. of Lewes passed away Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007, in Lewes. He was 63.
Slug was born in Roxbarro, Pa., son of the late Howard Frank Sr. and Mae Kirsch.
He was a general contractor and owner/operator of American Plumbing and Heating.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran.
Slug enjoyed fishing and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Charlotte Reed Kirsch; two daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon and Mike Purnell of Rehoboth and Sheila and Ronnie Sharp of Milford; three grandchildren, Jennifer Caras and husband, Paul, IV of Lincoln, Hillary Hayes of Milford and Matthew Purnell and wife, JoAnn, also of Milford; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Linda Teer and husband, Rich of Haddon Township, N.J.; a brother, Bill Kirsch and wife, Mary of Edgewater Park, N.J.; his mother-in-law, whom he loved dearly and called "mom," Marguerite K. Reed of Rehoboth; and his two cats that he also dearly loved, Howdy and Daisy Mae.
Family and friends are invited to an open house at Slug and Charlotte"s home, 325 Woodland Ave., Lewes, from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday.
Instead of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Slug"s memory be made to the Lewes Fire Department, Station 82, 347 Savannah Road, P.O. Box 225, Lewes, DE 19958.
Arrangements handled by Short Funeral Services, Milton.
