Howard B. Strannahan

Howard B. Strannahan, 79

ST. MICHAELS, Md. - Howard B. Strannahan, of St. Michaels, passed away peacefully Tuesday, May 13, 2008, at his daughter's home in Hurlock. He was 79.

Howard was born Nov. 1, 1928, in Greensboro, to the late Enoch and Margaret (Willoughby) Strannahan.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving at the time of the Korean War.

Howard owned and operated the Federal Paper & Chemical Co. from the early 1960s until 2000.

He is survived by a son, Michael Strannahan and his wife Gayla of Easton; a daughter, Jacque Schnitzer and her husband Kurt of Hurlock; five grandchildren, Kate, Dori, Shaw, Sunny and Andrew; a sister, Elsie Lamey of Greensboro; and a brother-in-law, Frank Jarman of Dover, Del.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death a year ago by his wife of 55 years, Clara Hester, on April 23, 2007.

Services will be noon Saturday at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, where friends may visit one hour prior.

Burial will be in Greensboro Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in his name to Coastal Hospice, P.O. Box 1733, Salisbury, MD 21802.
