Homer G. Brown, 85

HARRINGTON - Homer G. Brown of Harrington died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 85.

Mr. Brown was born in Harrington, son of the late Amos and Anna (Smith) Brown.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in the 16th Mechanized Cavalry under the command of Gen. George Patton during the invasion of Germany.

Mr. Brown worked as a bread delivery man for Ward's Tip Top Bread for 18 years until they went out of business.

He then worked at the Mobil gas station in Dover as an automobile mechanic for 10 years before retiring.

Mr. Brown was a member of Harrington Moose Lodge 534 and he loved to play poker, traveling to Greensboro, Md., to play every week.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister-in-law, Katherine Brown.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Lillie Mae Brown; a brother, John W. Brown of Harrington; and an adopted daughter, Judy Ferguson and her husband Randy of Harrington.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Friday in McKnatt, Carpenter & Baker Funeral Home, 50 Commerce St., Harrington, where friends may call after noon.

Burial will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
