Homer C. Oney of Woodside, DE passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at home.
He was born November 6, 1938 in Shiloh, Ohio to the late Jairet and Maggie (Gibson) Oney.
Homer was an ornery ole soul, and could be grumpy at times, but he had a heart of gold.
He served his country in the United States Air Force stationed at Dover Air Base. Homer also played the Bass Cello in several country bands in the 1950's and 60's, in Ohio and Delaware. For over 55 years he owned Homer Oney Taxidermy (HOT) and met many people who eventually became life long friends.
He is survived by his grandson, Lewis King of Dover, his beloved dog Tiny and best friend of over 60 years, Bob Lindenberger of Ohio plus many, many friends that were like family.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 5, 2024 at Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road (Rt.10), Dover. A visitation will be held one hour prior. Interment will be in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Millsboro.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the Division of Visually Impaired, Attn: Directors Office 1901 N DuPont Hwy, New Castle, DE 19720 (In memo please write in: In Memory of Homer Oney) or to the Delaware Hospice at 1-855-DHI-GIVE.
Now he is with his beloved Bea, may they both rest in peace.
Letters of condolence may be sent, and guestbook signed at www.torbertfuneral.com
