UNDATED (AP) — No. 21 Iowa facing Iowa State in the 73rd meeting of the bitter rivals highlights the week in Big 12 football. The Hawkeyes and Cyclones are coming off lopsided wins over smaller-conference programs, but will face a stiffer challenge in a rivalry that's been decided by a combined 14 points over the last four meetings. Iowa State has won two straight and three of the past four in the rivalry, but will be nearly two-touchdown underdogs on Saturday. Also, Arizona State plays at No. 10 Texas A&M and Arizona is at No. 15 BYU after the two teams went to double overtime in Tucson last season.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — Arizona State coach Kenny Dillingham has a unique plan for how to defend quarterback Marcel Reed on Saturday when the Sun Devils visit No. 10 Texas A&M. “Pray,” Dillingham said with a laugh. Arizona State beat Morgan State 70-7 in its opener last week but Dillingham was unhappy with how his team contained the quarterback at times and knows the Sun Devils will have to do a better job of that this week against Reed. “If we don’t do that this week, he’ll throw it for 400 and run it for 400,” Dillingham said. “He’ll set the record.”

STILLWATER, Okla. (AP) — No. 6 Oregon and Oklahoma State meet Saturday with something to prove after disappointing season openers. The Ducks dropped four spots in the AP Top 25 after struggling to put away Boise State while the favored Cowboys never got on track in a loss to Tulsa. When the teams played last season, Moore threw for 266 yards and three touchdowns, and the Ducks rolled up 631 yards of offense in a 69-3 rout. Oklahoma State fired Mike Gundy two weeks later. A streak of 30 consecutive wins in home openers is on the line for OSU.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Jayhawks and Missouri Tigers will reignite their historic college football rivalry on Friday night. The Border War dates back to 1891, with roots in the Civil War era. The Jayhawks and their athletic director, Travis Goff, recently posted images celebrating the Jayhawks' abolitionist history on social media, sparking responses from Missouri fans that underscored just how divisive the game has become. The rivalry paused in 2012 when Missouri joined the SEC but resumed last year with the Tigers winning in Columbia. The teams face off again Friday night in Lawrence. The game is more than just football; it’s a clash of history and pride.

BOULDER, Colo. (AP) — Colorado interior lineman Chauncey Gooden played both offense and defense in a season-opening win against Georgia Tech. The 380-pound sophomore played 65 snaps on the offensive line and seven on defense in goal-line and short-yardage situations. Gooden draws inspiration from Travis Hunter, the 2024 Heisman Trophy winner who excelled as a two-way player. Coach Deion Sanders signed off on Gooden playing on both sides and Gooden embraced the challenge. He helped limit Georgia Tech to 51 yards rushing and contributed to Colorado's strong running game. The Buffaloes host Weber State on Saturday at Folsom Field.

TYSONS, Va. (AP) — The College Sports Commission cleared more than $227 million worth of name, image and likeness deals in the two-month period ending August 31, nearly doubling the value of all the deals cleared over its first year of existence. Much of the increase can be attributed to a streamlined process with the commission’s NIL Go platform that players and schools use to submit deals, along with more personnel to evaluate deals. The agency now has 29 full-time employees, with 12 devoted full-time to NIL Go.

UNDATED (AP) — No. 1 Ohio State at No. 4 Texas highlights the Week 2 schedule and is the first regular-season top-five matchup since the Buckeyes beat the Longhorns 14-7 in Columbus last year. There are plenty of reasons to watch. A bevy of future NFL players will be on the field. It’s a classic Big Ten-SEC matchup. Though no College Football Playoff spots are at stake, the outcome definitely could impact seeding come December. Both teams have been ranked in the top 10 for all six of their meetings and this will be the fourth time both are in the top five.

UNDATED (AP) — No. 1 Ohio State at No. 4 Texas has been a red-letter game on the college football calendar for months. The teams meet in Austin on Saturday in what will be a mini litmus test in the debate over Big Ten-SEC supremacy. It could also be a factor down the road in College Football Playoff seeding but cannot be considered a knockout game. The Longhorns will be trying to beat a No. 1 team for the first time since 2008. The Big Ten-SEC undercard Saturday has No. 11 Oklahoma at Michigan and Mississippi State at Minnesota.
