Henry Yocum Lutton, 80
MARYDEL - Henry Yocum Lutton of Marydel passed away peacefully Monday, April 9, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. He was 80.
Mr. Lutton was born Oct. 27, 1926, in Dover, to Elmer C. and Marion C. (Yocum) Lutton.
He was a veteran in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, and then served in the Army reserves for six years.
He retired in 1987 after 25 years of teaching. He worked for a short time at Caesar Rodney High School, and then at the Kent Center Vocational School for more than 20 years.
Mr. Lutton was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church, the Union Lodge 7 AF & AM of Dover, and the Royal Arch Masons Lodge 8. He was past president of both the St. Andrew's Commandry Nur Temple Shrine and First State Shrine Club. He was a life member and past chief of the Marydel Fire Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer Lutton; a sister, Mildred Brown; and a granddaughter, Andrea Loatman.
He is survived by his wife and best friend of 59 years, Annabelle Elizabeth (Biddle) Lutton; a son, Gary H. Lutton and his wife Pamela of Star, S.C.; three daughters, Janet Marion Hewitt and her husband Rusty of Barclay, Md., Carolyn Elizabeth Van Hekle and her husband Richard of Dover, and Erika C. Lutton of Seaford; a daughter-in-law, Sandra Lutton; a sister, Marion C. Gordon her husband Jacques; a sister-in-law, Ruth Lutton of Georgia; her grandchildren, Shaun Lutton, Chrissy Lee, Matthew Lutton, Tom Reynolds, Laurie Wilcutts, Kristi Lankford, Shea Van Hekle, and Hilary, Janette and Wendy Hewitt; and her great-grandchildren, Nate Bohn, Mikayla and Cody Lee, Robert, Rebecca and Katie Lankford, Thomas Reynolds Jr., Sydney Hewitt and Joey and Josh Short.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday in Torbert Funeral Chapel South, 1145 E. Lebanon Road, Dover. Friends may call two hours prior. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park, Dover.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Philadelphia Shriners Hospital, 3551 N. Broad St., Philadelphia, PA 19140; the Marydel Volunteer Fire Department; or the Calvary United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 307, Marydel, MD 21649.
