SELBYVILLE - Henry A. Holden Jr. of Selbyville died Sunday, Aug. 12, 2007, in his home. He was 69.

Mr. Holden loved horse racing and gardening.

He was a very open and plain speaking person.

Mr. Holden was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Holden Sr. and Lottie Mae DuPont Mills; two daughters, Maryland Marie and Vernitha Mae Holden; and three sisters, Virginia Mae Long, Elizabeth Hall and Claire Wise.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mary R. Holden; his sons, Henry Holden III and wife, Louise of Millsboro, and Nathan Henry of Georgetown; his daughters, Ruby Marshall and husband, Shamir of Millsboro, Marilyn Holden and fiance, Ronald Gibbs of Selbyville, and Emma Gibbs and husband, Larry Jr. of Harbeson; three grandchildren he raised, Ronald Holden, Katrina Holden and Latoya Holden; one nephew; three aunts, Mary Drummond, Hearlin DuPont and Calli Mae DuPont; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; a goddaughter, Margaret Hopkins of Millsboro; and a host of cousins and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Watson Funeral Home, 211 Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call one hour prior.

Mattie Miller will officiate.

Interment will be in Calvary Pentecostal Cemetery, Bishopville, Md.
