Helen Natalie Hooten, 72

DOVER - Helen Natalie Hooten of Dover departed this life Thursday, Nov. 1, 2007, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, Dover. She was 72.

She was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Dover, daughter of the late James Ernest Hicks and Anna Little Hicks.

Helen loved serving the Lord, watching TV, crossword puzzles and visiting Spencer's flea market.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcus Hooten; a son, Arthur Hooten; four brothers, Clarence Hicks, Isaac Hicks, Nathan Hicks and Winfred Hicks; one sister, Dorothy Hicks; two sisters-in-law, Thelma Hicks and Faye Hicks; and three grandsons.

She leaves to cherish her memories four sons, Taromes Hicks and his wife Brenda of Dover, Marcus Hooten Jr. of Dover, Carl Hooten and his girlfriend Annetta of Wilmington and Curtis Hooten of Millsboro; five daughters, Arlene Harmon and her husband Milton of Newark, Brenda Hicks and her husband David of Dover, Glenda Hooten of Dover, Cathleen Cooper and her husband Gary of Dover and Mary Jones of Dover; two brothers, Ernest Hicks of Dover and Preston Demby and his wife Teresa of Harrington; two sisters, Catherine McCauley and her husband Chanley of Dover and Della Waters of Dover; an uncle, James Little; 40 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two nieces; and 12 nephews.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday in New Hope Pentecostal Church, Sharon Hill Road, Dover, where friends may call two hours prior.

Burial will be at Sharon Hills Cemetery, Dover.

Arrangements by Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Dover.
