Hazel (Ford) Orr, 83

ROCK HALL, Md. - Hazel (Ford) Orr of Rock Hall died Monday, Dec. 4, 2006, in Chester River Hospital Center, Chestertown. She was 83.

Mrs. Orr was born March 8, 1923, on a farm near Chestertown, the fifth daughter of the late Olie and Bessie (Stradley) Ford.

She was a 1940 graduate of Chestertown High School.

Mrs. Orr worked at the Chester River Hospital Center, formerly Kent and Queen Anne's Hospital in Chestertown, for 39 years in housekeeping. She later became head of the housekeeping department.

Her sweet and smiling face was a comforting sight to patients and visitors in the hospital. She was happiest when she was puttering in her flower garden, taking care of her home and when in the presence of her family members.

Mrs. Orr was a member of Rock Hall United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, William Joseph "Paddles" Orr, in 1974; a son, Larry Wayne Orr; and two sisters, Lillian Price and Helen Happersett.

She is survived by two sons, Billy Orr and Bobby Orr, both of Rock Hall; two sisters, Agnes Jewell of Centreville and Viola Everett of Chestertown; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Rock Hall United Methodist Church, where friends may call from noon to 2 p.m.

Burial will be in Wesley Cemetery, Rock Hall.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Rock Hall Fire Department, P.O. Box 577, Rock Hall, MD 21661.
